Polymer materials have excellent dielectric and insulation properties; however, those properties in AC high field region have not been known well. Recently we established an evaluation method of high‐field AC dissipation current waveform of polymer materials 1 . AC dissipation current waveforms of polyethylene and polypropylene films show nonlinear distortion in AC high‐field region. This nonlinearity was thought to be related to the behavior of AC space charge formation in the sample near electrodes. The properties of space charge formed under AC high field at power frequency seem to differ from those formed under DC high field. The measurement of AC space charge distribution is not so easy due to the resolution limit of the space charge measurement. We studied the dielectric properties of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film under AC high field up to 120 °C. It was found that tan δ, AC dissipation current (Ixr), and unbalanced component of capacitive current (ΔIxc) increased when the temperature became higher. In particular, ΔIxc increased above some threshold field and was considered to be due to the AC space charge formation. This AC space charge layer near electrode is thought to be formed due to carrier injection under AC high‐field application. Usually, the carrier mobility becomes smaller on lowering the temperature. Most of the carriers injected from the electrode are trapped near the electrode in the sample film. But in the high‐temperature region, the carrier mobility becomes larger and the carrier injection starts to increase from lower field. Many more carriers are injected from the electrode. Despite the obvious differences between the USA and UK health care systems, they share the characteristics of being motivated and managed in relation to cost and process rather than quality (the improved health status of patients). Whilst governments and insurers across the world use the rhetoric of quality, they, as epitomized by the behaviours of UK and USA decision makers, fail to define, measure and implement quality outcome policies. These behaviours are examined and some of their causes are explored briefly. Competition, as designed and used in public (e.g. UK National Health Service) and private (e.g. USA managed care) markets is shown to fail both to identify quality outcome targets and to provide evidence-based and efficient mechanisms to motivate decision makers to be orientated towards continuous quality outcome improvement in health care. We report a case of large leiomyoblastoma of the jejunum. The sagittal views in pre-operative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicated that a cystic tumor with solid component was present, sequential from the small bowel. We suspected a smooth muscle tumor of the small bowel, but did not rule out the malignancy. The operative diagnosis was smooth muscle tumor of the proximal jejunum, and partial resection of the small bowel was performed. The pathological examination revealed benign leiomyoblastoma of the jejunum without metastasis. MRI contributed to the pre-operative diagnosis of the origin of this rare tumor, in a non-invasive fashion. 相似文献

The authors have been developing extruded polymer insulated superconducting power cables. Dielectric loss in electrical insulation cannot be ignored in superconducting cables since conductor loss in the cables is minimal. Studies so far show that ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) is suitable as an electrical insulating material in the extruded polymer insulated superconducting cable design because it demonstrates excellent mechanical and relatively good electrical qualities at a cryogenic temperature. Widely used EPR includes some kinds of additives; however, their effect on tan δ of EPR at cryogenic temperature remains unknown. The effect of additives such as crosslinking agent and fillers on tan δ of EPR was examined at temperatures of between 4.2 K and 300 K. Thickness dependence of tan δ was also measured using EPR films of different thickness and an extruded EPR insulated cable sample. The results show that additives increase tan δ of relatively thin films of EPR even in the cryogenic temperature region; however, they do not have an intolerable dielectric loss in comparison with conductor loss and heat inflow of the superconducting cable. The remedy to tan δ increase due to the polymer contraction relative to shielding wires has been established. 相似文献

The pore-forming alpha 1 subunit of L-type calcium (Ca2+) channels is the molecular target of Ca2+ channel blockers such as phenylalkylamines (PAAs). Association and dissociation rates of (-)devapamil were compared for a highly PAA-sensitive L-type Ca2+ channel chimera (Lh) and various class A Ca2+ channel mutants. These mutants carry the high-affinity determinants of the PAA receptor site in a class A sequence environment. Apparent drug association and dissociation rate constants were significantly affected by the sequence environment (class A or L-type) of the PAA receptor site. Single point mutations affecting the high-affinity determinants in segments IVS6 of the PAA receptor site, introduced into a class A environment, reduced the apparent drug association rates. Mutation I1811M in transmembrane segment IVS6 (mutant AL25/-I) had the highest impact and decreased the apparent association rate for (-)devapamil by approximately 30-fold, suggesting that this pore-lining isoleucine in transmembrane segment IVS6 plays a key role in the formation of the PAA receptor site. In contrast, apparent drug dissociation rates of Ca2+ channels in the resting state were almost unaffected by point mutations of the PAA receptor site. 相似文献

(PO4)3(NNZP(x), 0⩽x⩽1), were synthesized. They were examined by powder X-ray diffraction, infra-red (i.r.) absorption and Raman scattering.
Ionic conductivities of graphite coated samples were measured. A complete series of solid solutions was formed for NCZP(x), while a second phase was found forx<0.1 for NNZP(x). The i.r. and Raman spectra of their solid solutions consistently showed the formation of PO4 tetrahedra with different geometries. It is demonstrated that confocal epi-illumination/collection optics can be effectively used to generate surface-enhanced Raman scattering at the near-field region of a gold-coated tip for an atomic force microscope operated in semi-contact tapping mode. When the tip, with a 50-nm apex radius, was illuminated by a highly focused laser beam at 532 nm and approached the isolated diamond particle, with a size of approximately 1 microm, the Raman signal was enhanced by approximately 10(3). This result is in good agreement with numerical simulations performed by the finite difference time-domain method. Since our apertureless microscope is based on readily available conventional components, there is wide room for improvements and modifications by common users in various applications of micro-Raman analysis. 相似文献
